The Palais des congrès de Montréal welcomes nearly 800,000 visitors and hosts some 300 events each year, ranging from public exhibitions to international conferences with significant economic and social impact. It plays a key role in promoting Montréal internationally and contributes significantly to the economic growth of both the city and the province, generating several hundred million dollars in economic spinoffs annually.

A strategic location

Strategically located in the heart of downtown, the Palais des congrès de Montréal connects several iconic Montréal neighbourhoods: the International Quarter, Old Montréal, Chinatown, the Business District, the Entertainment District and the Health District.

Just a few steps away: hotels, cafés, restaurants, shops, museums, theatres and nightlife. More than 16,000 hotel rooms are located within a 10-minute walk of the Palais, including some 4,000 that are accessible via the Underground City. Access is facilitated by the Place-d’Armes metro station, which is directly connected to the building.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal houses one of the largest column-free exhibition halls in Canada, ideal for hosting large-scale events. but its strength also lies in the diversity of its flexible spaces. From reception rooms to VIP rooms, meeting rooms, terraces, private offices, and even themed networking and relaxation areas promoting Québec’s iconic tourist attractions, it’s all available here. Throughout the year, the venue hosts Montréal’s must-see cultural events, such as the Auto Show, the Montréal Comiccon and the Salon du livre book fair, as well as major international events, including important scientific meetings. Between global conferences and academic galas, the Palais des congrès de Montréal is a true hub for exchanges and encounters.

The Palais des congrès de Montréal is also the first convention centre in the world to host a permanent immersive space: OASIS immersion, one of the largest interactive spaces in Canada, which is ideal for immersive exhibitions, hybrid conferences and innovative corporate events.

Initiatives for a sustainable future

The Palais des congrès de Montréal is committed to a concrete sustainable development approach to reduce its environmental impact and that of its customers, partners and visitors by integrating sustainability into the heart of its business model, community action and institutional brand image.

One of the first convention centres in the Americas to be carbon neutral, the Palais is BOMA BEST 3 certified and aims to be 100% accessible. The Palais des congrès de Montréal employs a full-time sustainable development manager and, thanks to its eco-conditionality policy specially designed for international event organisers, offers resources and support tailored to organisations taking concrete action in terms of sustainable development at every stage of their event project.

But the most visible symbol of the convention centre’s commitment is its impressive green roof. A veritable open-air laboratory, it’s one of the largest showcases for urban agriculture in Canada and a unique project worldwide. It covers an area of 35,000 square feet (3,250 square metres), combining vegetable production, scientific research, technological innovations — including artificial intelligence-based irrigation management — and unprecedented experiments such as the first northern urban vineyard. This hub of production, education and social inclusion generates crops for local restaurants, community food baskets and donations to organizations, while contributing to biodiversity, the fight against heat islands while strengthening Montréal’s international reputation as the capital of urban agriculture.
